Mrs. Barbara Morgan

Mrs. Morgan graduated from Clarion University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education.  All 33 years of her teaching career have been working in Catholic schools.  29 of these years have been working with 1st grade.  Her favorite thing about 1st grade is the amount of growth that occurs with her students at this age level!   Mrs. Morgan is married to Martin Morgan.  Mr. and Mrs. Morgan reside in Overbrook, where they live with their 2 “Kitties”.  Mrs. Morgan enjoys gardening and planting flowers in the spring.

Mrs. Carole Nomides

Mrs. Nomides is our Kindergarten teacher.  She has been teaching for 32 years, all at the primary level.  She graduated from Clarion University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education.  Mrs. Nomides is married to Chris Nomides and they have 2 daughters, Michelle and Katie.  Although her 2 daughters are grown, Mrs. Nomides enjoys teaching Kindergarten because it keeps her “very busy”.  She invites you to come and visit her room to see how “We hear and we forget, We see and we remember, We do and we understand”.   Mr. and Mrs. Nomides enjoy going out on their boat to relax and get away.  Mr. and Mrs. Nomides reside in Mt. Lebanon.

Miss Sally Smiley

 
Miss Smiley has been teaching in the Diocese of Pittsburgh for 35 years.  She has settled in at her favorite grade level, 7th and 8th grade.  Miss Smiley received her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education while attending Point Park University.  She also received her Master Degree in Education from Duquesne University.  Miss Smiley also has certification in both Middle School Mathematics and Special Education.  Miss Smiley enjoys “curling up with a good book” when she is not teaching.

Mrs. Nicole Banko

Mrs. Banko is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where she majored in Science and Elementary Education.  She also holds a Master Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh.  She has been teaching for 18 years in the Catholic schools.  Mrs. Banko is married to Jon Banko, who is a high school principal.  They have 2 children, Nicholas and Jonna, both attend BLSMMA.  She believes “Catholic Education provides a strong foundation for students’.  Mrs. Banko and her family reside in Baldwin.  The Bankos enjoy traveling as a family.

Mrs. Kathy Mancuso

Mrs. Mancuso is a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh receiving both a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and Master Degree in Education.  She has been teaching for 37 years, at all age levels.  Mrs. Mancuso is responsible for starting  the St. Mary of the Mount Day Care/Extended Day program.  Mrs. Mancuso is married to Joe Mancuso and they have 3 children, Ryan, Meghan and Matt.  All of Mrs. Mancuso’s children have attended St. Mary of the Mount School.  Mr. and Mrs. Mancuso are the proud grandparents of 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Kaylin.  Mr. and Mrs. Mancuso reside in Mount Washington.  She looks forward to every trip to see her grandchildren!

Mrs. Barbara Venturella

Mrs. Venturella is a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master Degree from Duquesne University as a Reading Specialist.  She has been teaching for 30 years, all in the primary department.  Mrs. Venturella is married to Dave Venturella and they have 3 children,   Megan, Andrew and Eric, all of whom attended St. Mary of the Mount School.  Mrs. Venturella is also the CRE for Saint Mary Parish in Aleppo Township.  She very much enjoys working with children.  Mrs. Venturella and her family reside in Ohio Township.

Mr. Dan Baker

Mr. Baker is a graduate from Duquesne with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education and a Master Degree in Technology and Curriculum Design from the University of Phoenix.  Mr. Baker also holds certification in Middle School Math.  Alumni of Saint Mary of the Mount, Mr. Baker has been teaching for 10 years, encompassing many grade levels and subjects.  Mr. Baker and his brother just became business partners and opened a Laser Tag Entertainment Center in Robinson Township (Xtreme Laser Storm).  Mr. Baker resides in Mount Washington.

Sister Janet Milan, IHM

Sister is a native Pittsburgher who grew up in Hazelwood.  After graduating from St. Rosalia High School, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Scranton, PA. She graduated from Marywood College, now Marywood University, with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education concentrating in Math.   She went on to receive a Master Degree in Secondary Math Education from the same institution. Sister Janet has taught both high school and elementary classes in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and Delaware.  She enjoys traveling and has visited some of the western states, as well as, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia with students and other teachers.  She is enthusiastic and enjoys dealing with the different classes here in Mount Washington.

Sister Anysia Donohue, IHM

Sister Anysia is a graduate of Saint Mary of the Mount grade school and high school!  She attended Marywood University where she received her Bachelor Degree and a Master Degree in Education.  After college, she joined the Community of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Sister Anysia has been teaching for over 30 years at Saint Mary of the Mount and Bishop Leonard Saint Mary of the Mount Academy.  When Sister Anysia is not teaching she enjoys baking, reading and music appreciation.

Miss Kara Parkes

Miss Kara Parkes is the new third grade teacher at Bishop Leonard St. Mary of the Mount Academy. Miss Parkes graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.   She previously taught the Pre-School here at BLSMMA for 4 years.  Miss Parkes is also a CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister and serves on the Pastoral Council at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Beechview.  Miss Parkes is very excited to become a full time teacher with the 3rd Grade.  Miss Parkes and her family reside in Beechview.
